Dr Keren Hammerschlag, Senior Lecturer in Art History and Curatorship at the Centre for Art History & Theory, has been working for several years on a special issue of Shofar: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Jewish Studies about 'The Modern Jewess in Image and Text.'

The outcome is an excitingly diverse and interdisciplinary examination of modern Jewish female identity and its representation. The special issue features articles and reviews from emerging and leading scholars in the field, as well as original poetry and art. Dr Hammerschlag's introduction is Open Access.

Other contributors include Georgetown University's Centre for Jewish Civilization (hosted the original conference in 2018); major contributors: Lynn Levin, Alex Martinis Roe, Lori Harrison-Kahan, Samantha Pickette, Phyllis Lassner, Lynne Swarts, Grace Kessler Overbeke, Hannah Schwardron, Nathan Abrams, Meital Orr.

Current issue now available.
